FINAL REPORT
- PROGRAM COMMITTEE
2001-2002
The program committee has attempted to have interesting and informative speakers for our membership this past year. Here is a recap of our programs.
September - Our speaker was Traci Shook from Roemer Insurance who was our Bulletin Chairman. She spoke on the changes to our website and illustrated how to navigate around the IWOT website as well as the NAIW website.
October - We were fortunate to have Fire Chief Mike Bell speak to us regarding the Toledo Fire Department's involvement in working at the World Trade Center cleanup and what Toledo is doing to guard against a Terrorist Attack.
November - As you know, November was IWOT's salute to the Insurance Industry and in the wake of the September 11, 2002 attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we were happy to have the National Vice President for NAIW, Cheryl Blair-Lee and Northwest Ohio's State Representative Lynn Olman speak. Cheryl told us about the NAIW members who lost their lives while working at the World Trade Centers and Rep. Olman talked to us about the Pledge of Allegiance and the American Flag. Both speakers were very entertaining.
December - December was our Christmas Party and our recognition of Past Presidents of IWOT. A gift exchange was held and our speaker was our State Director, Diane Ziemann, who discussed problems with membership in the NAIW Local Associations.
January - Our speaker for January was Gary K. Wymer of G.K. Wymer, Inc. who discussed how to keep customers happy during the claims process.
February - Our program for February was our annual Education Night and what a fun time it was! Lisa Hochradel and her committee set up a game of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and prizes were awarded for each level the player attained. It was very educational as all the questions asked were insurance questions. Good Job Lisa!
March - In March, we arranged for a member of the Lucas County Prosecutor's office to speak to us regarding insurance fraud and the necessary steps to secure an indictment and what happens when the cases go to court.
April - For our program this month, we discussed with the membership how to improve our meetings and getting our members interested in participating in the organization and attending the meetings. We were given some good ideas which we are currently attempting to implement.
May - May was our NAIW Breakfast and this year we were fortunate to have this function at the Inverness Country Club. Rosanne Koperski arranged for the Honorable Judge Arlene Singer to speak to us on "Professionalism in the Workplace". We also saluted our new members for this year.
June - June was our installation of IWOT officers for the year 2002-2003. Deb Gomez arranged for us to meet at the Toledo Club and she also handled the installation. Thank you Debby.
This has been an interesting and busy year as the President-Elect and the Program Chairman. I have been lucky enough to have worked with many wonderful and capable people this year and I look forward to serving all of you in the coming year.

Education Report - June 2002
We are planning to hold more educational programs beginning next year at our regular monthly meetings. NAIW has several 30 minute educational programs we can purchase and I hope this will be of interest to our members. This will basically take the place of a speaker. One program that caught my interest was in regards to handling stress on the job - I know we could all use some help in this area!! Please send me an email if you have any ideas or suggestions for educational programs that would interest you.

BY LAWS FINAL
REPORT
2001 TO 2002
National announced that all associations with Honorary Membership category in their Standing Rules needed to make revisions especially if Local Associations were paying dues for the Honorary Members. No dues can be charged as we would be in violation with the IRS. It was recommended by National that we remove all wording referencing Honarary Membership category completely along with Affiliate Member. Conversationwith National Headquarters and myself confirmed this information.
B Laws Committee met in March to review the Standing Rules. It was determined in this meeting that our Standing Rules needed to be revisited and changed entirely. Most importantly to make the changes needed with the Membership and Dues categories. At April General Meeting the proposed changes were presented to the General Membership and vote was taken. General Membership overwhelmingly approved the changes.
The By Laws Committee included the following members:
Lisa Hochradel
Kathy Bartlett
Sandi Mominee

Revised Spring 2002
Public Relations
Final Report - Public Relations - 2001/2
Faxes and e-mails were sent to the news media for coverage of our monthly
meetings, Education Night, and May Brekafast. Unfortunately, there was no
coverage given to any of our events. Sympathy cards were sent to Marge
Kelly's family, as well as to Kathy Turley, on the death of her mother.
The May Breakfast meeting was in celebration of National Association of
Insurance Women's week. The event was held at Inverness Club and was
attended by approximately 60 persons. Judge Arlene Singer was our guest
speaker. While no one from the Mayor's office or City Council was in
attendance, we did receive a proclamation from Councilman Peter Ujvagi (who
was invited but could not make it because of illness in the family),
declaring May 19-25, 2002, as NAIW week.
Respectfully submitted.

Safety - June 2002
I can't believe the year is over already. As Safety Chairperson for the Insurance Women of Toledo I was able to communicate with various safety articles/tips in the monthly bulletin as well as passing out flyers on various seminars available through the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio.
My committee was able to secure Fireman Chief Michael Bell as a guest speaker this year for our October Meeting. Chief Bell spoke on 9/11 and various personal experiences in his career. At this meeting it was decided to donate $100 toward smoke detectors for less fortunate people.
We also participated in the Annual Hero's Awards Banquet sponsored by the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio. We had a lot of volunteers for this function. The Safety Council was pleased to have us again this year. They showed their gratitude this year by providing meals for us.
I would personally like to thank everyone who helped out and assisted this year on my committee. Also, I would like to extend best wishes to the upcoming Safety Chairperson for 2002 - 2003.
Respectfully Submitted,
Stacey Dunbar,

Safety Chairperson
2002 Community Service Year End Bulletin
Thank you to everyone for the generous donations to our committee this year. Your support is greatly appreciated. We were able to donate several times to the homeless in the area this year and the last month; a nice amount went directly to the Cherry Street Mission, the women's portion. The donation consisted of a monetary amount of $121.55. This amount was from the profit of Education Night, which was donated to our homeless project. Our last activity in ending the term, will be a donation for smoke alarms to the Toledo Area Firefighters. We believe this is a good cause after hearing the need expressed by a speaker to our IWOT group earlier this year.
Thanks again to
all for your help, ideas and donations.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sandy Dobbins
Community Service Final Report - 2001/2002
September spent
asking for volunteers to assist in the committee.
October presented during the meeting requests for donations for candy,
trinkets and cash donations for Halloween for needy children. We were able
to collect some candy and miscellaneous items from the group. We donated $70
along with the items to the W.I.T.C.H. program who deliver the candy on trick
or treat night to children in the area hospitals who are not able to
participate themselves due to health issues. The donations were collected
at
the general meeting in October.
November was the beginning of our homeless project and this was presented
at
the general meeting. Donations were being collected for this project. The
donations consisted of monetary amounts along with actual items such as
coats, gloves, scarves, socks and blankets.
December was the continuance of the homeless project. We collected $56 at
the general meeting from IWOT members along with the Ha-Ha being donated,
along with outside donations to this cause; taking our total donation to $90.
We were able to purchase blankets, insulated gloves and several pairs of
socks. These items were distributed during the Christmas Season to the
actual people living on the streets in this area.
January was an extension of the homeless project and we had actual clothing,
coats, blankets and outer ware donated from our IWOT group. We were not able
to have these delivered to the persons on the street so these items were
directed to the Cherry Street Mission. The were in need of articles for
winter and greatly appreciated our donation to them.
February IWOT general meeting Ha Ha was donated to the homeless project.
This amount was applied to the donation later in the year to the homeless
with the miscellaneous items of soap, shampoo and sundries. The IWOT group
members donated several of these miscellaneous items during the year from
their hotel visits.
April the profit from education night was donated to the homeless. This was
a check for $121.55 that we were able to deliver to The Cherry Street Mission
to the sparrows nest for battered woman and children in the area. Along with
the money collected, we delivered further sundry items including the table
setting decorations from our last IWOT breakfast meeting. The table center
pieces included small plastic trophies and megaphones. Donations were
delivered in May.
May we are in the process of donating to the Toledo Area Fire Fighters for
the need mentioned in a IWOT general meeting by the Chief who spoke to our
IWOT group. It was indicated that they greatly appreciate any donations in
order to provide smoke detectors for the local areas in need for this safety
precaution. The amount requested for donation from our Community Service
funds is $100.
In summing up the year, I feel that we have a very generous group. All
activities this year were a result of the giving from our IWOT members and
meetings. I believe that is what makes the Community Service portion a
success. Thanks to each and every one of you for the participation and
donations. Thanks to the committee members who were able to step in and
assist.

Bulletin - June 2002 / Final Report
Just a reminder to wrap up the season to keep an eye on the website over the summer for any announcements! Also, please sign up for e-mail announcements by going to www.iwot.org and following the simple directions at the bottom of our home page.
I'd like to extend a sincere thank you for all of our members for their support in making the website/bulletin another success. Being the "Communication Hub" of IWOT has assisted me to become to more familiar with our members, our activities and NAIW!
As you know, our association invested funds to revamp our site this year. I believe the investment has come back to the association two fold in the quality of the communication tool we now have to extend to our members and future members!
In closing, remember that our website is a valuable tool! Don't forget that it is your source of information. Keep in mind that improvements can always be made! Our site is a living entity that is only as good as the information provided! Also, our members cooperation and understanding is also the key to our site's success. Please keep in mind that someone must collect the information from our members, and keep the lines of communication open between not only the bulletin chairperson but the website producer also! Feedback and hard work are what make a successful website.
I wish the best of luck to the incoming chairperson and ask that all of our members give the same support and cooperation that were extended to me this season!
Thank you all and have a great summer.
